What is the percentage of the shaded boxes?
There are 100 boxes in total, and there 18 boxes shaded.
Since percentage is out of a 100,
We can say that the percentage of shaded boxes is 18%

Changing Percentages to Fractions
Percentage = 100%, therefore the percentage of something has to be out of a 100%
Change these Percentages to fractions
5%, 17%, 1%, 50%, 21%
Now the next step is to divide all of these numbers by a 100, then it turns into a fraction, because percentages are over a 100.This means it is some amount out of a 100, like fraction is part of something only difference is fraction = 1, and percentages is 100.
Therefore, change these numbers into fractions
5%= 5/100 (Change into simplest form) 1/20. (Divide both numbers by 5 to change to simplest for)
17& = 17/100 (Cannot be changed into simplest form, so it remains)
1% = 1/100
50% = 50/100 (Put in simplest form) = 1/2
21%= 21/100
Change these Fractions to Percentages
24/100, 8/100, 68/100, 25/80, 1/100, 50/100, 10/ 40
Changing percentages is the exact opposite of changing fractions to Percentages. Instead of dividing, in this case you multiply the fraction by a 100.
24/100 = 24/100 * 100 = 24%
8/100 = 8/100 * 100 = 8%
68/ 100 = 68/100 * 100 = 68
25/80 = 25/80 * 100 = 31.25
Note: This question above is a trick question The denominator isn't 100, which means the percentage would not be the exact same as the numerator. This shows that even when denominator isn't a 100, to find the percentages it should still be multiplied by 100
1/100 = 1/100 * 100 = 1%
50/100 = 50/100 * 100 = 50%
10/40 = 10/40 * 100 = 1000/40 = 25%
4) What is 15% of 1000ml of water
Percentage = 100. Therefore 15% = 15/100. 15 out of 100
Therefore 15% of 1000ml =
15/100 * 1000 = 15000/100 = 150ml,
Therefore 15% of 1000ML = 150ML
5) The original price of a bicycle is 350$, two days later it was put on sale for 15%, find the cost of the bicycle after sale.
Original price = 100&
Current price = 15& less.
Therefore current price= 85% (100-15)
To find the current price= 85/100 * 350 = $297.5
To find if the answer is correct,
Take the selling price over the cost price and multiply by 100 percent. If the answer is 85%,then $297.5 is the current selling price, because the percentage given off is 15%, therefore the remaining percentage on the bike is 85%
297.5/350 * 100 = 85%. This proves the answer is correct.
