FRACTIONS ANd percentages
(1/2, 7/8, 2/7) are all fractions. A fraction is not a whole number. Whole numbers Include (2,3.9,17 e.t.c). Therefore a fraction can be defined as part of a whole.

Further more if a piece of the Pizza is taken out, we can say that 1/8 of the pizza is out and 7/8 of the pizza is remaining.
1/8 meaning that one out of the eight pieces has been taken out
7/8 meaning that seven of the eight pieces of the pizza is remaining.
1/8 meaning that one out of the eight pieces has been taken out
7/8 meaning that seven of the eight pieces of the pizza is remaining.
In fractions, there is always two numbers involved, the top number (number above the division sign) is called the numerator, and the bottom number (number below the division sign) is called the denominator.
Note: The denominator is always the total number of the whole when divided or split, while the numerator if always a part of the whole. This is different in Mixed Fractions which you will come across in an exercise.
Lastly, the addition of all the fractions of an object should equal 1

E.g In this circle, the fraction is divided into three.
Unshaded area, vertically shaded area, and horizontally shaded area.
Fraction of
Unshaded area- 3/8
Vertically shaded area - 2/8
Horizontally shaded area- 3/8
The sum of these three fractions = 1. Which is the whole complete circle
3/8 + 2/8 + 3/8 = 1
Therefore the sum of all the fractions in a shape or an object must equal 1(whole number)
